“I thought you guys sounded unbelievable — an awesome tribute to Bob Seger’s music.  The members that “got it” and could handle the volume LOVED Lookin’ Back.  I will definitely give you guys a thumbs up to anyone who asks my opinion.”

DOUG PODELL – FORMER DOCTOR OF ROCK PROGRAMMING, WCSX-FM, DETROIT, MICHIGAN

“I admit I was reticent when Doug suggested we have a ‘tribute band’ play at our release party. At the same time, I did like your band’s name. When you guys started playin’, my misgivings disappeared. And as I watched from our signing table the crowd seemed to agree… you guys got it right and it became fun to listen…. that’s from one of the people (me) behind the music, but with an opinion borne of the original experience. I want to thank all of you for helping us with this fabulous event. Well done!”

drewabbott“Enjoyed it! It’s good to hear the old songs”.

“You guys rocked the house at this year’s Sparks in the Park Fireworks Festival! Lookin’ Back’s rendition of ‘Live Bullet Lives Again’ brought back great memories! As the musical entertainment coordinator, I dare say that you were the BEST headline band that Sparks ever had! I will be at your next performance – that is for sure! AMAZING.”

“I was there for your debut last Saturday. It was GREAT! I didn’t know what to expect. I never had heard of New York New York, but I drove 50 miles from downriver just to see the show. I’m so glad we did. We will go see you where ever you play and thanks again for a great night.”

johngnotek“When I first saw a rehearsal I wanted to be involved with this class act in some way. With Lookin’ Back’s debut, I was very glad I did.  Bo Diddley and I’ve Been Workin’ was stuck in my head for days. This band rocks!”

– JOHN GNOTEK – WEB DESIGNER AND PHOTOGRAPHER, HIGHLAND, MI

“Lookin’ Back is a pleasant surprise. They have successfully brought Bob Seger’s music into the “Top 25 Most Played” playlist on my iPhone. Their gigs are a hoot and they put on a great show.”

-TIM MCCOLLUM – WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI

“I thought they (Lookin’ Back) were very very good, tight covers and good vocals all around.  The singer doesn’t look or sound exactly like Seger per se, but is Seger-esque and the band has the right sound.  They were perfect for the event! Thanks again, Jane”

– JANE HOEHNER – DIRECTOR, WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY PRESS (TRAVELIN’ MAN PUBLISHER), DETROIT, MI

“Greaaaaat job at 59 West! I was pumped! :)”

“Saw you at 59 West. You guys were very good! We are now Lookin Back fans and we’ll come to see you guys whenever we can!”

– KATHI LANZETTA CURTIS – HIGHLAND, MI

“This HUGE Seger fan LOVES Lookin’ Back! Seger’s music is at the core of my youth, my young adult years, and now my midlife years. So naturally, a band that tributes to THE MAN gets my attention. I discovered Lookin’ Back at the Bob Seger Book launch party at Memphis Smoke in Royal Oak. The positive energy of the band members made for a very fun night. I will not hesitate to attend another event! They were great! Let It Rock!”

– KAREN APPLING, BOB SEGER’S #1 FAN IN IDA, MI

“Just wanted to say that last night was the first time we’ve heard your band play. You guys are amazing. The sax wow….WOW…he sure can play it!!! We wish you guys the best of luck!”

  1. Excellent group. I worked with Paul (keyboards) way back in the 70’s and am so proud he’s still rockin’ and keeping Seger music alive.

  2. I’m a photographer at the Detroit Zoo. During my lunch break yesterday, I enjoyed part of a live concert by Lookin’ Back. What a great group — you guys rock! I hope you’ll come back again this summer.

    • THANKS ED! We appreciate the kind words, and especially that you took the time to find us on line and express them. We had a GREAT feeling about that opportunity and delivered the goods. It was a special afternoon for us.

  3. Awesome show last night at Groveland Oaks County Park. It was the first time hearing Lookin’ Back and you guys NAILED each and every song…great show and performance!!! It’s nice to see some up-and-coming shows that are close to me….definitely worth seeing again!! I’m quite sure you made Bob Seger proud!!!!!

    • THANKS for the high compliment! It was an inspired evening and the love coming back to us from the darkness in the field well beyond the reach of the stage lights gave us goosebumps and motivation for the next tune. We can only hope Bob is proud, but no matter what, we’re so very proud of him.

  4. I’ve been hearing a lot of praise about the BAND now for over a year and plan to catch your show this weekend in Frankenmuth. Being a Bob Seger die-hard nut since I first heard ‘Persecution Smith’ and a semi-pro drummer myself, I have followed Bob from the Last Heard, System, Silver Bullet bands and personnel along the way. When I first saw the System at the Hideout, I was in awe of Pep Perrine’s drum kit. He had what looked like extended bass drums using, what I first thought were two 55 gallon barrels, two additional bass drums attached to the fronts of his double kicker set. In addition, he had two floor toms on stands set up above the playing field on either side so he could strike them up high rather than downward in a typical floor tom stance. Even weirder was that they curved around somehow. Wish I had a picture. I can’t count how many times I saw Seger live and also became a 3rd Power fan around 1969 and saw just about every show they ever did. With the Creem-like feel of the Power, it was sad to see they never got national. I was glad when Drew joined the Silver Bullet. I still have a reel-to-reel tape of a live interview from WABX with ‘Lunch With Lubin’ where DJ Jerry Lubin interviews Drew Abbott about the old 3rd Power days and the ‘new’, at the time Seger album being finished by the band called ‘Stranger In Town’. One thing is certain -Rock N’ Roll Never Forgets!

    • Thanks Tim! There are photos of Pep’s drums in action on the net. Send me a note at [email protected] and I’ll send you one. Would love to hear that interview of Drew. Maybe you can get it onto YouTube someday and we’ll share it. Hope you had a good time in Frankenmuth!

  5. You guys rock! You played at the MHS 40th reunion and were great! I may even go up to see you in commerce when you’re there.
    Rob

  6. Lookin Back performed at the MHS Class of 73 Reunion on 10/5. Loved the music and brought back great memories. They also let one of our classmates sing with the band, which was a nice touch as most do not let other singers sing with the band.

    • Thanks Kathy for taking a few minutes to share a few kind words! We had a great time with your class! Your class mate NAILED Bobby McGee! Fantastic vocalist and we hope to run into her again some day for our encore performance. Our only regrets for the evening is that we couldn’t persuade her to do another song with us, and that we didn’t learn Seger’s “Back In 72” in time. However, 2+2 turned out very well.

  7. We absolutely LOVED having Lookin’ Back as our Saturday night headliner at the 2014 National Blueberry Festival in South Haven, MI! Not only were the songs spot-on and the energy high, but the band members were great to work with as well! Several thousand people packed our outdoor venue, and everyone was having a good time. A beautiful night in South Haven coupled with some great Seger tunes from a fun band made for an amazing highlight of this year’s National Blueberry Festival! I have no reservations in highly recommending this band to others!
